I found this solid but yucky little cabinet at
a Goodwill store for $30 a few weeks ago.

It was black, shiny, and just - eww - but I loved
the ornate woodwork and saw potential in it.

After quite a bit of thought on what direction to take it {for my living room? for selling at the summer shows?} I finally decided it'd be a really nice addition to my daughter's room.

Ballet slipper pink it was!

With something like this it's important to clean and prep the nooks & crannies really well before painting. There was a lot of dust on those crevices.

Once done, I switched out that icky brass handle for a white milk glass one.
It was originally a nice wood finish. For some reason someone thought a glossy black would be good. But personally I feel this sort of woodwork should have a as it will highlight the decorative features much better than a dark color and allow shadows to really bring out the pretty light color,ornateness. {Is that a word?}

Like with most my furniture re-dos, I distressed it. I'm going to cover the inside shelving with vintage sheet music, but haven't gotten around to that yet.

I'm also proud of myself because I bought the paint off the "oops" shelf and it was the perfect color for me!

What do you think?
