Reason #1 To Shop Thrift Stores
If you see a box like this at the thrift store -
DO NOT PASS IT without peeking inside!
I'm so very glad I didn't...
Because what I found in there is something I've been hunting for for a very long time now. And this one just happened to be in great condition...
Can you guess what it is???
I'll give you a hint...
A vintage 1930's Underwood typewriter! It was love at first sight! I couldn't believe I finally was able to snag one of these. They always get snatched up fast. I've literally been hitting Goodwill for months now and this was at the top of my list for items I search for first at each visit!
I paid $35. Which was fine by me... other than some dust and tuning it's in GREAT condition.
She still types, too!
{Any experts out there that can tell me why it has no "1" key though?
Not missing, it's obvious it never was there.}
POST EDIT: Aha, answer found here.
Next on my thrift store score list -
an antique standing birdcage...

I love it, what a great find!!! And thanks for the Wiki link, that was a great lesson. I always look forward to when your next post comes along!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so fun and cute. I bought a typewriter too, but it wasn't a "popular" brand. But I love it anyway.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to have a look around your blog and see what you've been up to!
Have a great weekend!
You have inspired me to thrift shop more!
ReplyDeleteI thank you for linking to the article on typewriters - that was a fun read, too. I found your blog through One Pretty Thing and I'm glad that I did - what a neat place. Congrats on the new vintage typewriter!

You lucky duck! I've wanted to find an old typewriter for a long time now. I really should be more persistent in my looking. And double-check those strange boxes.
ReplyDeleteLark & Lola love hearing from you!
