{Alice in Wonderland Wreath Tutorial}
In a couple weeks is my daughter's 1st birthday party! It's Alice in Wonderland themed. I did this project today though, and I cannot stop myself from posting it, I'm so excited. So I'm sharing it with you now! Enjoy! And be sure to come back in August to see how the *whole* party turns out!

This project I'm very proud of - not only because {I think} it's adorable, but also because it cost me less than $10! It's an Alice in Wonderland themed wreath for my daughter's 1st birthday party this year. I'm going to show you how I made it.Here's what I gathered:
- one 13" wood wreath from ($1 at Dollar Tree)
- 4 or 5 bunches of red roses ($1/ea at Dollar Tree)
- 1 bunch white roses ($1 at, you guessed it)
- my trusty glue gun + several glue sticks
- three 1- inch paint brushes (49 cents each at Michael's)
- a few playing cards (get a two-pack at the Dollar Tree)
- red glitter (optional, I'm a glitter fiend)
- red paint + paint brush
- white cardstock & a printer handy
(the pic below shows Mod Podge, but I didn't use it)
First I snipped my red roses, leaving a couple inches worth of stem.
With this sort of wreath, it was easy to just wedge them in.
I arranged all the red roses first until...
most the front side was covered.
Then, I took the red paint, and started painting the white roses red! {Just like the Queen likes 'em!}
Just 1/3 of the petals or so, I wanted these ones to be mostly white. Then I set those aside to dry.
I laid the paintbrushes down on newspaper, and used my glue gun to create a drop hanging off the bristles. No worries if the drop isn't well shaped, you can simply trim it with scissors after it hardens.
And no worries on the paper that will come with it once it's dry. I simply painted right over it.

Did all three, then set those aside to dry. Also added some red glitter to the wet paint on the brushes & roses. That's just me...
When my white roses were dry, I added a few of those to the wreath.
I started to get really excited around this point!
Then, I positioned my paintbrushes, and glue gunned those down. This took some work, getting them attached to petals, leaves, and the wreath so that they were secure. NOTE: Make sure your paint drops aren't defying gravity!
Next I tucked some playing cards in.
I used the wood wreath to get them wedged in, then secured them with hot glue.
Almost complete, but not quite!
I printed off "The Queen, she likes 'em red!" on white card stock, font size 88, landscape style (so it printed sideways), using the font Grymmoire. Then, I cut the words out, like so:
Using a round pencil, I curled the edges...

Then I positioned the words and hot glued those down, and....
A very lovely, and fun, Alice in Wonderland style wreath to greet our Unbirthday Guests!
I should also note, with words I print off like this I like to spray the paper with a sealer/preserver. Just in cases.
And I also went back over the wreath with my glue gun, to make sure it was extra secure before the big party!
And that's how I did it!

Wonderful job! I shouted 'She is so talented!' as I looked at your project and Aaron just gave me a funny look and went about his business. He would never understand the thrill of someone's crafty masterpiece, but I love him n-e-ways. I'm about to start redoing a candelier my aunt gae me. It used to have fake candles that lit when plugged in and I ripped those out. I'm going to turn it black and put real candles in it. I'll call it my 'Heather' project. No, I can already tell you that I will totally forget to take pics. Sorry.
