Today I went shopping for a wreath. Fives years of marriage (next month) and we've been "wreathless" every Christmas. It drives me crazy every year when I get out the Christmas decor that I have nothing to hang on my door!

So Hobby Lobby was having a special on their Christmas decor, 50%, and I headed there. But when I got there and found myself wreath aisle, in the I realized that none of the cliche red and green wreaths are me. So when I came across a hard foam ring to make your own wreath with, my creative juices started flowing. I bought all the supplies at 50% off, which is why I love you, my dear Hobby Lobby. This made it MUCH cheaper than buying a pre-made wreath, even on sale.

Here's how I did it!

I had:
1 white hard foam ring
20 golf-ball-sized Christmas bulbs
30-40 smaller Christmas bulbs
1 beaded garland
a few holiday foliage sprigs
a glue gun
LOTS of glue sticks
1 feathery white dove ornament

First, lay the ring on a flat surface, and starting with the largest blubs, hot glue them sporadically around the ring. Be generous with the glue, you want those puppies to stick!

It only takes a few seconds for them to be stuck, but I did a lot of "re-enforcing" with more glue.

This is what my ring looked like when I was done with the big bulbs:

Next, I started using the smaller bulbs to fill in some spaces:

Next, I took the beaded garland and made sloppy figure 8's around the ornaments. When I got it positioned just right, I went around the wreath and glued it in place.

This is what my wreath looked like once I was done with the garland.

Then, I took my holiday foliage and ripped off the leaves and berries.

I used the pieces of foliage to fill in more spaces on my wreath.

Once it was nice and filled in, I hung it on my door to inspect and to find the best spot to hang it by.

With it hung, I found the best spot for my dove ornament. Having pulled off the string to hang it by and wires attached to its feet, it was ready to be hot glued into place.

Voila! I love it! I'm so glad I didn't spend money on a wreath that I simply liked. This one I made myself and I love it.
